The Garraf oilfield is located in Thi Qar province, approximately 85 km north of Nasiriyah city in Iraq.Waterworks Technologies’ scope of work included the treatment of water taken from the Garraf River to be used for raw wash water and utilities within the Garraf base camp.A river water treatment program was set up to produce treated water with a capacity of 1560 m3/day.It is a system that combines filtration and ultrafiltration techniques with all the necessary chemical dosages.
Given the environment and the risks involved, it was necessary to set up ATEX alert and communication systems. This helps to protect the facilities and life of the staff in case of malfunction. A2S was consulted and selected to equip the site. The design and implementation of these solutions demonstrate the know-how of the A2S, the ability to adapt to all types of demands and thus meet all types of needs. Our solutions incorporate the following elements:
Each of the solutions to meet the client's security needs, we have combined them as follows:
It is a 2 in 1 system combining the public address and the general alarm system. We have configured it on the basis of an A+B system comprising 1 cabinet with central server, an amplifier, a monitoring unit and 5 remote cabinet nodes with subserver and amplifier. The sound is transmitted by a 96-piece speaker system (6 W for indoors and 25 W for outdoors). In addition we have set up a 4 zone routine messaging service with an alarm message function for the protection of workers on 5 sites. The operator of the control room can find the person or transmit the alert by voice message. Field workers can activate the alarm in the event of an accident. Thanks to the different types of alarm tone, staff can know what type of accident occurred and what procedure to follow.
It was designed on the basis of a Motorola 1 VHF with battery and antenna and 50 ATEX-type walkie-talkies. This has enabled coverage of the entire GARRAF water treatment site (utility area, water treatment area, FOB-PWT) to protect workers from danger during their daily inspections.
It is composed of three-light status light alarms, combined sirens and alarms, and manual alarm triggers, for indoors and outdoors. This equipment is resistant to weather and explosion hazards. In addition, we have installed a comprehensive signalling system to enhance worker safety coupled with a gas detection system. Thanks to optical and audible alarms, rapid alarms are issued to warn personnel of danger in noisy areas and to ensure their safety.
