Major Innovation: Fonteck launches new ATEX compressor for atmospheres

In response to the increased global needs for explosion protection, a number of operating equipment have so far provided only partial responses in this area. This is the case with industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. In addition, in the European Union, electrical and mechanical machinery operated in explosive atmospheres must comply with ATEX / IECEx regulations.
To this end, Fonteck and A2S have developed the highest level of safety anti-explosive compressor* for installation in Zone 1 and Zone 2 for gas environments, zones 21 and 22 for dust environments.
To achieve this, we have developed both mechanical and electrical compressor protection. Thanks to this major innovation, we can now offer the market a semi-hermetic refrigeration compressor that received last August the ATEX and IECEx certifications issued by LCIE**", nicolas Sevestre, managing director of A2S, reports a worldwide demand for compressors between 1,000 and 1,500 units per year by 2020.
Two years of work have been required to develop the main case and envelope of each component i.e., junction box, temperature sensor, transmitter sensor, solenoid valve, heating resistance in the oil housing, then have them tested in the laboratory and finally obtain the ATEX/IECEx certification.
This innovation will benefit two types of markets. On the one hand, compressor manufacturers wishing to develop aTEX certified range in industrial cooperation. On the other hand, that of end customers and their subcontractors who seek to equip their facilities with the best protected equipment on the market.
A newcomer in our ATEX product line, the compressor will allow us, both from a technical point of view and through marketing, to stand out in the market, According to Nicolas Sevestre.
** Certification No: LCIE 15 ATEX 3030 X (Ex 2 II GD Exd IIB T4)
