THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ALERT SYSTEM
Every day, dozens of earthquakes occur around the world, but fortunately, most of them are of low intensity and do not pose a risk to human activities. However, a major problem can arise when a large and intense earthquake occurs, the exact timing of which cannot be predicted. This is why it is crucial to set up an early, effective and efficient warning system in vulnerable areas, in order to offer people precious seconds to save lives and protect their property.
THE RIGHT SOLUTION
Earthquake early warning systems rely on reliable seismic sensors that are able to detect seismic waves and then automatically trigger an alert signal after a quick assessment of the situation. This gives people living in the risk area precious seconds to take safety measures and get to safety.
The seismic sensors are directly connected to an electronic siren that is automatically triggered in the event of dangerous shocks. The system is automated and autonomous, which allows its operation even in the event of a power outage, which can be caused by earthquakes.
Larger installations are equipped with Vektra® software applications such as SCADA, alerts and warnings. If dangerous shocks are detected by Vektra SCADA, all sirens are automatically triggered thanks to the Vektra®® alert. At the same time, the competent persons are informed of the danger by voice message or SMS thanks to the Vektra® warning.
THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALERT SYSTEM
SPECIALIZED SENSORS
The lowest areas of the buildings are equipped with seismic sensors that monitor seismic waves. As soon as they detect seismic waves that pose a risk, these sensors automatically and instantly trigger the alert system.
ELECTRONIC SIRENS
As soon as dangerous seismic activity is registered, electronic sirens automatically and immediately trigger a warning signal. Their main advantage lies in their ability to cover a wide area and warn people in the threatened area as quickly as possible.
CONTROL CENTER
When an emergency situation occurs, the control center, which is equipped with an OCP16 control panel or Vektra® software applications, automatically triggers an alert and notification.
COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE
The communication infrastructure enables extremely fast communication between the control center and other elements of the monitoring, alerting and notification system.
NOTIFICATION OF COMPETENT PERSONS
The relevant persons and emergency services are notified of the emergency by telephone or SMS and called to the workplace and intervention sites.
