Contracts: A2S equips tunnels in France

Ensuring the safety of motorists in tunnels is the priority of public bodies responsible for the maintenance of roads and public works companies entrusted with renovation and modernization programmes. Indeed confined areas this may be particularly dangerous in the event of a fire, as users who are not in direct proximity to the incident often tend to underestimate its magnitude. Because they only see smoke, many motorists do not have the reflex to leave their car and exit the tunnel through emergency exits. However, asphyxia is one of the first risks in the event of a fire. The challenge is therefore to make it clear to motorists that they must leave their vehicle as quickly as possible, thanks to visual and audible signs that will direct them to secure places.
A2S has won major contracts for the provision of high-power audible warning devices under several software modernization programs. Thus in the Lyon region, A2S, which first equipped the Red Cross Tunnel, was retained by SPIE to equip the Fourvière Tunnel 22 strong sirens. In the Ile de France, the Roads Directorate has also launched a modernisation programme, covering 22 Defence Tunnels. It covers safety control, ventilation, incident detection, evacuation and fire resistance. At the end of this work, these tunnels will be among the most modern in Europe. A2S has signed a framework agreement with Bouygues SA for the provision of all the sound alarms of this program.
